Purpose

The following hazard class hierarchy (based on the upcoming Globally Harmonized System) is provided as a guide for prioritizing which hazard classes pose the greatest risks (e.g. flammability is usually a more important consideration than toxicity). To determine a chemical’s hazard(s), consult the container label or the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) of the chemical. If more than one hazard is listed, the first hazard is the more hazardous.

This policy applies to all UHSP investigators, faculty, staff, visiting scientists, postdoctoral fellows, students, scholars, and any other person working at or for UHSP.
